SERVICES AND SUPPORTS
|
|

|
|
The Arc of Union has
developed a full array of services for individuals over their life span
to further our mission including early intervention, day care and
educational programs for 180 children, vocational training and
employment services for 200 adults, residential and support services
for 100 adults, clinical services which include health and behavioral
interventions and rehabilitative therapies for all program
participants, special needs programming for 72 adults, including
elderly adults and individuals with significant medical and physical or
behavioral challenges, year round recreation programs, respite
services, family supports, information and referral, outreach and
advocacy, and community education. Programs and services are available
for all citizens with developmental disabilities in Union County.
In response to the
requests and expressed interests on the part of our Arc of Union
families, the agency established Lifetime Support, Inc., a separate
non-profit corporation which provides guardianship, trusteeship, and
life planning services to families with members with developmental
disabilities.
The Arc of Union
maintains four vocational training centers, a social day program, five special needs day
programs,
two educational/child care locations, one
supported/extended employment center and 23 residences, as well as a wide varietyof respite programs. Program sites
are located throughout Union
County's local
communities. In total, the agency serves approximately 800 individuals
and their families each year.

COMMITMENT TO QUALITY
|
|

|
|
The uniqueness and strength of
The Arc of Union County stems from its solid foundation, strong
membership, volunteer base, close ties to the community and involvement
and participation of persons served and their families.
Various programs of
The Arc of Union are licensed by the New Jersey State Departments of
Health, Human Services, and Education and the agency holds a
distinguished accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of
Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), a nationally recognized accrediting
authority. The agency is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors
with a current membership of eighteen. The Board has established a
comprehensive volunteer Committee system to function as a knowledge
resource and an extension of the Board of Directors to oversee the
quality of services provided. Several program auxiliaries also exist to
support the efforts of the agency and are again driven by volunteers.
In keeping with our Mission Statement, The Arc of Union maintains an
active Quality Assurance Committee to assure continuous quality
improvement efforts which include direct feedback from persons served
and their families and their input into service delivery systems.
The Board of
Directors maintains affiliation with many volunteer advisory groups
that assist the agency in reaching its goals. The Corporate Advisory
Board, the Medical Advisory Board, and the Human Rights Committee are
all such groups. Additionally, services of The Arc of Union are
directly enriched by the commitment and work of volunteers within
program settings. In total, The Arc volunteers are one hundred and
twenty in number and the agency membership is at 500 members.
