The Arc of Union County has several enrichment programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Regular exercise is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle and is recommended for everyone, including older adults with disabilities. it is never too late to start exercising. Exercise is a great way to improve health, physical functioning and overall well being for older adults. The individuals at the Heart Club are doing a great job staying active and getting our of their comfort zone! The Heart Club has incorporated difference activities like Yoga, Zumba, Rock Climbing and walks at the park. Our goal at the Heart club is to stay active, healthy and always be safe.
The mission of the arts program, Sights & Sounds, is to empower and support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with opportunities for personal expression, creative outlet and growth. The arts program promotes access to the arts, enriches cultural understanding, and supports community integration and acceptance through the arts. To promote our mission, Sights & Sounds is led by an advisory board made up of leaders in the arts community.
We are always accepting donations of supplies and to support special events. Technology is a key tool in expanding our knowledge of the world. The technology program provides a positive environment for individuals to learn and build skills through educational applications, individualized instruction, and assistive technology. Our goal is the maximize the independence of our individuals by using technology. Activities include typing, reading, math/memory games, technology themed outings and collaborations with other programs within The Arc, promoting the importance of team work and being open to new people, places and things.
